About
Happy to share that our paper "Asymptotic Analysis of One-bit Quantized Box-Constrained Precoding in Large-Scale Multi-User Systems", co-authored by Xiuxiu Ma, Dr Abla Kammoun, Prof Tareq Al-Naffouri, and Prof Mohamed-Slim Alouini, has been accepted for publication as a SPECIAL ISSUE paper in the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing!
📡 In this study, we provide a precise asymptotic characterization of the performance of a quantized precoder, obtained by applying quantization to the output of a box-constrained precoder, within the asymptotic regime where the numbers of antennas and users grow proportionally.
💡 Highlights:
⭐ The introduction of the box constraint, originally designed to cope with low-dynamic-range amplifiers, is used here to control quantization noise rather than for amplifier compatibility.
⭐ The box constraint renders our precoder non-linear and without a closed-form solution. Unlike prior works relying on Bussgang’s decomposition, our theoretical analysis is based on a novel Gaussian min-max theorem proposed by us, which we developed to derive accurate and rigorously proven asymptotic performance metrics.
⭐ We believe the tools introduced here provide valuable insights that could inform future studies on the impact of hardware impairments in large-scale multi-user systems.
