About
We are proud to celebrate a major entrepreneurial achievement as Flow Guard, co-founded by ISL members Omar Khalifa and Mohammed Ahmed, secured first place at the Hult Prize Saudi Arabia National Competition in Riyadh.
The Hult Prize is one of the world's largest student entrepreneurship competitions, challenging teams to develop innovative solutions to pressing global problems. This year, KAUST demonstrated a strong presence, with four of the six finalist spots awarded to KAUST projects: Flow Guard, Wiaam Project, FutureHeat, and Furat.
Flow Guard was recognized for its innovative approach to water conservation. The venture combines ultrasonic sensors, NB-IoT connectivity, and AI-powered analytics to detect water leaks and monitor consumption in real time, helping reduce water waste and improve resource management.
For ISL, this accomplishment reflects the dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of Omar and Mohammed, who transformed a sustainability-focused idea into an award-winning solution with real-world impact. Omar is a PhD candidate under the supervision of Professor Tareq Al-Naffouri, and Mohammed Ahmed is a graduate of KAUST's Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TIE) program.
Following its national victory, Flow Guard will advance to the Digital Incubator, taking the next step toward the Hult Prize Global Finals.
Congratulations to Omar and Mohammed, and to all KAUST teams that represented the university at the competition.
