Congratulations to Jie Ma on successfully defending her Master’s thesis on “LEO-Based Positioning Under Orbital Errors”.
Her research investigates the impact of LEO orbital errors through mis-specified Cramér-Rao Bound (MCRB) on satellite-based positioning and proposes an MCRB-driven calibration framework to significantly improve localization accuracy. This work, supervised by Prof. Tareq Al-Naffouri, develops a refined signal model with fast- and slow-Doppler effects and multipath effects, theoretical performance bounds under model mismatch, and a multi-station MCRB-weighted fusion strategy, providing new insights and practical methodologies for high-precision positioning using LEO communication signals.
Special thanks to the defense committee members—Prof. Mohamed-Slim Alouini, Prof. George Turkiyyah, and Prof. Ali Arshad Nasir—for their valuable feedback and constructive suggestions.
We are proud of Jie’s achievements and look forward to her future contributions to the field!
