About

๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Vijith Varma Kotte on successfully defending his PhD dissertation titled โ€œFMCW Radar Systems for Automotive and Biomedical Applicationsโ€ under the supervision of Prof. Tareq Al-Naffouri

This work advances FMCW radar as a versatile and robust sensing modality by developing cutting-edge signal processing and deep learning techniques across two impactful domains:
๐Ÿ”น Automotive Applications: Introduced a forward-looking MIMO-SAR radar imaging system, significantly enhancing azimuthal resolution using unsupervised Deep Basis Pursuit and Convolutional Decoder models.
๐Ÿ”น Biomedical Sensing: Enabled non-contact estimation of heart and breathing rates through joint Doppler modeling, and demonstrated radar-based dehydration monitoring using machine learning on multi-frequency FMCW data.

The research was validated through real-world experiments and simulations, showing strong performance for future autonomous systems and digital healthcare technologies.

Special thanks to the PhD committee for their valuable insights and support:
๐Ÿ”ธ Prof. Nikos Sidiropoulos (University of Virginia)
๐Ÿ”ธ Prof. Mohamed-Slim Alouini
๐Ÿ”ธ Prof. Tariq Alkhalifah

Weโ€™re proud of his achievement and the continued impact of Information Science Lab, CEMSE, KAUSTโ€™s research in the fields of radar sensing, signal processing, and AI.
